Dear Mayor Heilman, Councilmembers and Planning Commissioners,

I am a West Hollywood stakeholder writing in strong support of new creative office building at 9176 Sunset Boulevard. This all-electric building will replace an asphalt car dealership lot and bring new daytime life with street-level dining to the west end of the Sunset Strip. This project deserves your support, and I urge you each to vote in approval.

9176 Sunset’s design comes from the City’s own Sunset Specific Plan, which calls for a minor landmark building to celebrate the entrance to West Hollywood. The proposed building is certainly announces you have reached our “Creative City” with world-class architecture and integrated digital displays.

Surrounded by 14-story office towers, the 9176 Sunset project will dramatically improve the pedestrian experience on Sunset within a modest, 5-story building. 9176 Sunset will celebrate our creative City’s unique history for the public with unique sidewalk sculptures and provide new habitat for wildlife and privately-owned public spaces for pedestrian respite. I am glad all vehicle traffic and loading will be contained within the building and not on Sunset Boulevard.

9176 Sunset is a model that other projects should follow – a highly sustainable building that meaningfully improves the public realm and is carefully designed to prevent any disturbance to the neighborhood. This application is supported by scientific studies, not NIMBY here say. Please approve this incredible gateway project!
